Home/Energy/Find my system

System finder

Find the system your property actually needs

Six questions about what you run and how long you need it. No panel counts, no inverter ratings — the tool works those out.

What are you powering?

This sets a sensible starting list of appliances. You can change every one of them next.

What do you need to keep running?

Add or remove items. The meter on the left updates as you go — watch your daily energy build up.

How heavily do you use them?

Two homes with identical appliances can use very different amounts of energy. This adjusts the daily estimate.

How long do you need to run without sun or grid?

This is what determines battery storage. Longer autonomy means more storage — and more cost.

Backup required8 hours
2 h8 h16 h24 h

A useful rule of thumb: 8 hours covers an average night. 12 hours covers a night plus a dull morning. 24 hours means the property runs through a full day with no sun and no grid at all — that is a large and expensive battery bank, and worth it only if you genuinely cannot tolerate an outage.

What is your electricity situation today?

This tells us whether we are designing a backup system, a replacement, or a standalone installation.

What matters most to you?

Same hardware, different priorities. This shapes how our engineer approaches your design.

Indicative recommendation

Why we recommend this

What this system helps you achieve

This is an indicative recommendation, not a final engineering quote. It is calculated from the appliances and hours you selected, using standard sizing assumptions: 4.5 peak sun hours per day, 75% system derate, 75% demand diversity, 3× inverter surge headroom and 80% usable battery depth. Roof orientation, shading, wiring runs and starting loads all change the final design, which is why every system is confirmed by a site assessment before anything is ordered.

Why we ask about appliances, not panels

Panel count is an output, not an input. Starting from your load is the only way to size an array that actually covers what you run.

    What happens after you submit

An engineer reviews your answers, then arranges a site assessment to confirm roof space, shading and cable routes before quoting.

    No obligation

The estimate is yours whether or not you buy from Sunnovate. If a smaller system suits you better, we will say so.

An engineer can size the system with you over the phone or on site.
