Energy solutions

Keep your business powered when unreliable electricity becomes expensive

Commercial sizing is about trading hours and continuity. The cost of an outage is measured in lost revenue, not inconvenience — so the design priorities change.

Load profiled, not averaged

Demand mapped across your actual trading day.

Critical circuits first

The loads that stop revenue are prioritised on backup.

Phased installation

Work sequenced so the business keeps operating.

Single accountability

One team for design, supply, installation and support.

The problem

What an outage actually costs a business

Commercial load is concentrated in the working day, which suits solar well. But the exposure is different: when the supply drops, trade stops, staff idle, and equipment cycles in ways it was not designed for.

That is why commercial design starts with a load profile rather than a headline capacity — establishing not just how much you use, but when, and which parts of it you cannot lose.

Downtime

Every dark hour is revenue that does not come back.

Generator running costs

Fuel and servicing as a permanent line on the operating budget.

Sensitive equipment

Unplanned interruptions are hard on the equipment you depend on.

Continuity requirements

Cold chains, servers and security systems that must not drop.

Our commercial approach

Assess, profile, design, install, commission, support

Six stages. The load profile is what separates a commercial design from a scaled-up domestic one.

01

Assess

Site visit, supply arrangement, roof or ground area, cable routes and constraints.

02

Load profile

Demand mapped across the trading day, with critical loads identified separately.

03

Design

Full specification with array, inverter, storage and switching set out.

04

Install

Phased so operations continue, with our own engineers on site.

05

Commission

System tested, configured and formally handed over to your team.

06

Support

Maintenance and monitoring arrangements so the system keeps performing.

Applications

Where commercial systems go

Different operations, different critical loads. The assessment establishes which is which.

Offices

Computers, networking, lighting and cooling that cannot drop mid-working-day.

Load profiled across office hours with critical circuits separated onto the backup path.

Retail and shops

Tills, cold storage and lighting where an outage halts trade immediately.

Capacity focused on the loads that stop revenue, with quiet automatic changeover.

Facilities

Pumps, monitoring and equipment running across extended or continuous hours.

Systems designed for sustained load rather than evening peaks, with three phase where required.

Estates

Common areas, gatehouse, lighting and shared security infrastructure.

Installations coordinated across shared infrastructure rather than unit by unit.

Powering security infrastructure

The systems that protect the site need power too

Cameras, recorders, access controllers and alarm panels all draw continuous power — and they fail exactly when the supply does, which is the moment they matter most.

Because Sunnovate designs both pillars, the recording rack, gate controller and alarm panel sit on the backup path from the start rather than being retrofitted onto it later.

Security load included in the energy sizing from the outset

One survey covering both power and protection

Shared cable routes and containment where sensible

One point of accountability when something needs attention

Common questions

What buyers ask us

How do you size a commercial system?

From a load profile rather than a single peak figure. We establish what runs across your trading day, what runs continuously, and which circuits are critical. The specification follows from that.

Will installation disrupt trading?

It is planned not to. Commercial installations are phased around your operating hours, and the sequence is agreed with you before work starts.

Do you handle three-phase supply?

Yes, where the site requires it. Whether you need it is determined by your existing supply and equipment, and confirmed during the assessment.

Can you power only part of the building?

Yes, and it is often the most sensible starting point. Critical circuits are separated and prioritised, so the loads that matter stay up without paying to back up everything.

What ongoing support is available?

Maintenance and support arrangements are available for commercial installations. Tell us what is installed and we will confirm what a service arrangement covers.
